GENERAL
The Committee's aim is to provide you with the opportunities to play
your cricket with your friends, with enjoyment, and in the style and of
the quality you want and expect . The Committee will ensure you are
managed fairly, but always in the best interests of the Club. What follows
below explains how we do this (our 'ethos' is another way of putting it)
MANAGEMENT
1. Players making themselves available for league matches on Saturdays
are understood to do so on the basis of playing for the Club; there is no
right to play for a specific team. The League and Cup Manager is
responsible for selecting, in conjunction with the captains, teams for 1st
XI and 2nd XI matches (and limited overs competitions), and retains right
of final decision when required
2. If any player who wishes to play on a Saturday cannot be found a
place, every effort will be made to give him a game on the Sunday of that
weekend, should he wish it.
3. Unlike Saturdays with the 1st and 2nd XIs, there is no precedence
between the Sunday XI and the Strollers in terms of players, but if both
teams are unable to raise full sides, the home side will take precedence
4. Team captains are ultimately responsible for who takes the field
with them, and will work towards achieving a core of 7 or 8
regularly available players - whilst accepting of course that there will
be movement between teams
5. Every effort will be made to publish teams for a weekend by the
Wednesday before on the Club website
6. The Cricket Committee (which includes the League and Cup Manager and
the team captains) will meet regularly to discuss seasonal
progress, to institute any necessary changes to enhance playing
performance, and to make any recommendations to the Committee that they
consider necessary.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be on time for matches, be reliable, don't call off at short notice.
If you do have to call off, your first responsibility is to find another
player to take your place
2. Pay your subscription, and pay your match fees (unless an 'all-in'
subscriber) immediately after a match (or before, if requested)
3. Help the captain and vice captain with pre and post match
administration
4. Be conscious that there are 10 other players in your team; treat
them as you would expect to be treated
5. If at all possible, wear Club clothing when representing it
6. On the field, observe The Spirit of Cricket meticulously. You would
wish to know that there now is a specific post, filled by Jonathan King,
on the Cricket Committee to guide players in their and its efforts to
maintain the highest standards.
