GUIDELINES ON WORKING WITH EXTERNAL PARTNERS

Brook Cricket Club (the Club) is committed to ensuring that all children (being those persons under the age of 18) participating in cricket have a safe and positive experience.

The Club’s intention is to work with local schools and colleges to promote the development of cricket with young people. For this purpose, the Club will agree a set of principles and guidelines with each school and college to ensure that the responsibilities and expectations of each organisation are identified in relation to the safeguarding and supervision of children, including appropriate insurance cover.

The Club will comply with the following guidelines:

1. Before the Club undertakes any partnership of this kind, the Club Welfare Officers will ensure that the Club Committee has considered all of its obligations and duties.

2. Where appropriate, the Club will adopt the relevant ECB guidance and protocols (e.g. if the Club participates in “The PESSCL Strategy”, “The Community Club Coaches Programme” or “A Chance to Shine”).

3. When planning and undertaking other arrangements with local schools and colleges, the Club will first consider:

  • qualifications;

  • insurance;

  • risk assessments (including first aid procedures);

  • avoidance of adults being alone with children;

  • supervision of children;

  • changing;

  • transport to any games or facilities; and

  • photographs / press coverage,

and adopt the ECB Coach Education department guidance on working in schools.
